Glasgow houses second fastest selling in UK as city enjoys mini boom

Glasgow is one of the best places to sell your home in the UK... but we've been narrowly beaten by our neighbours.

Properties in Scotland's biggest city get snapped up fast, taking an average of 47 days to sell.

But Edinburgh clinched the top spot by just two days – with properties going in around 45 days, 56 days quicker than the UK average.

Another Scottish city comes into third place: It takes an average of 72 days for a property in Dundee to be bought up.

With stamp duty axed until April 2021 and the housing market steadily reopening, the UK’s property market has enjoyed a mini boom since lockdown eased in spring.

But experts have suggested this will not last long during the ongoing pandemic and the jury’s out on whether or not it is good time to sell.

Analysing Post Office Money Mortgages’ ‘The City Rate of Sale Report’ plus house listings across the UK on Rightmove, OnlineMortgageAdvisor also revealed the areas of the UK which have homes left on the market the longest have been revealed.

Oxford is the hardest city to sell up in, with homes in this area stay on the market for 152 days - 51 days longer than the UK average.

London ranks as the fifth worst city in the UK. Contrary to the high demand, properties in the capital take 37 days longer than the UK’s average to sell.

Other locations to make up the ten slowest selling areas include Sunderland (130 days), Lincoln (127 days), Newcastle upon Tyne (121 days), Bournemouth (115 days) and Blackburn (114 days).

You can have a gander at homes up for sale across the city on Glasgow Live's  property page.
