Glasgow homeless shelter now allows dogs to stay overnight with owners

The Winter Night Shelter has opened it's doors to welcome Glasgow's homeless pups.

The shelter, hosted by Glasgow City Mission, will now provide overnight accommodation for users and their pet dogs.

The news comes was launched calling for greater protection of homeless people and their pet dogs during the harsh winter months.

A spokesman from Glasgow City Mission said: "We recognise the importance of dogs to some of our guests and want to ensure that those who own a dog will be able to get a good night’s sleep in the shelter, knowing their dog is comfortable and warm beside them."

The Winter Night Shelter, situated at the Lodging House Mission in East Campbell Street, provides safe, warm emergency accommodation for rough sleepers and their pets.

It also allows agencies in Glasgow to interact directly with guests to help improve their situations.

Now doggys will not only will provided bedding, they will also be given food, treats and toys during their stay.
