Glasgow High Street station to remain closed as cops continue probe after teen seriously injured

A Glasgow train station will remain shut for the rest of the night as police probe the scene where a teen was seriously injured.

We previously told how a teenage boy was rushed to hospital after suffering serious injuries at High Street station.

Police were called to the scene around 3.45pm this afternoon and Scotrail confirmed that train services between Glasgow and Edinburgh were affected.

The rail service have now confirmed that the station will remain closed for the remainder of the night.

A replacement bus service has been put on between for Queen Street and Bellgrove.

Those travelling west from Glasgow are encouraged to go to Glasgow Central Station.

Direct trains to Edinburgh from both Queen Street and Central are still running normally.

Details of how the teenager came by his injuries have not been released but it is understood he was not hit by a train.

A probe has now been launched by police who are appealing to the public for information.

Police are understood to have launched a criminal investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report around 3.45pm on Saturday, 16 October, that a teenage boy had been seriously injured inside the station on High Street, Glasgow.

“He has been taken to hospital and enquiries are under way.

“The station and the road outside are currently closed to allow emergency services access.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time or has information which may be relevant is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2280 of Saturday, 16 October, as soon as possible."
