Glasgow is gearing up for the biggest ever Fireworks Display ever seen in the city tomorrow night (Tuesday November 5), featuring around six tonnes of fireworks on November 5.
The event at Glasgow Green will feature approximately 18,000 effects in different colours - with some being seen in Scotland for the first time.
And now organisers have asked that anyone coming to the event with children put a contact telephone number in the child’s pocket to help reunite any who get lost with their group as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, they have also reminded people attending the event that sparklers (which can burn at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit) and fireworks shouldn’t be brought to Glasgow Green.
In previous years, despite extensive clean-up operations that collected thousands of used sparklers, some users of Glasgow Green reported finding them stuck in the ground in the days after.
Glasgow’s Depute Lord Provost Philip Braat said: “Glasgow’s Fireworks display promises to be spectacular. It’s also a safe way to enjoy the 5th of November celebrations. Please come along and witness the fantastic fireworks display we’ve planned. I’d also ask everyone attending to look after those they arrive with at Glasgow Green.”
The whole show is managed and fired by a computer firing system - with computers are controlling and firing the fireworks all to the tempo of the music.
Gates for Glasgow’s Fireworks open at 5pm tomorrow with the display taking place from 7.30pm. The event is free.
