Glasgow Good Samaritan spotted ferrying schoolkids through floodwater using shopping trolley

A Glasgow Good Samaritan has been showered with praise after being spotted ferrying schoolkids through floodwater using a shopping trolley.

The unnamed woman sprung into action to help the youngsters through a flooded section of street in Summerston so they could get to class at local schools Parkview Primary and John Paul Academy.

As Glasgow Live reported, the area under the railway bridge on Sandbank Street - notorious for flooding - was rendered impassable by heavy rains that hit Glasgow on Wednesday, with two cars abandoned in the floodwater by their owners.

Community group No1seems2care were alerted by a member of the public about the woman's actions and shared news of them on their Facebook page yesterday (October 28).

The Facebook post read: "This lady uses a shopping trolley to take kids through the flooding to enable them to get to their schools in the Summerston area.

"We are told she was drenched but did this several times to get her kids and other kids through the water. Thank you whoever you are. We appreciate what you did and so do the people that witnessed your actions."

One person responded: "If you let me know who she is I’ll gladly buy her a bunch of flowers or something. Top top lady and a credit to the area."

And another wrote: "What an absolute treasure of a lady. I bet all the kids had so much fun too plus they made it in to school due to this lovely lady well done."
