Glasgow golf club consultation - public meeting taking place this week

The future of public golf courses in Glasgow still hangs in the balance.

Glasgow Life, the sporting and cultural arm of Glasgow City Council, is considering brining the axe down on six of the city's dedicated sporting facilities because of “low usage” and a “substantial annual deficit”.

A consultation on the issue, which thousands of people took part in, ended on July 21, with a number of councillors and residents across the area raising concerns about the proposals and branding them a sham.

And now a public meeting will take place this week in Dennistoun, as campaigners step up efforts to save the at-risk courses (Littlehill, Lethamhill and Linn Park, Knightswood, Ruchill and Alexandra Park).

The Big Golf Course Debate is being held at the Wood Street Social Club om August 8 at 6.30pm.

Everyone is urged to attend.
