Glasgow goes Gotham as The Royal Infirmary appears in new image from The Batman movie

Glasgow seems to be developing a habit of turning into Gotham, with HBO movie Batgirl seeing it double up as the fictional city for the third time following The Flash and The Batman.

The streets around the Trongate will once again be transformed into the gritty metropolis over the next few weeks for the superhero movie shoot as Michael Keaton confirmed he will join the cast to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader.

And now Glaswegians have been given a sneak peak of how Glasgow will look as crime-ridden Gotham, thanks to a newly-released still image from upcoming flick The Batman, which features scenes shot in the Necropolis and in the vicinity of Glasgow Cathedral.

The new image, published by Empire magazine, shows Robert Pattinson's Batman standing opposite Catwoman - played by Zoe Kravitz, up at the Necropolis, with the Royal Infirmary and part of Glasgow Cathedral visible in the background.

Rumours are that the hospital will double up as Arkham Asylum in the big-budget blockbuster, while there's also talk of Glasgow Cathedral being 'blown up' in the film - after it was revealed that a full-scale replica of the cathedral, alongside some surrounding streets, was built inside a hangar in England that was being used for the movie shoot.

Some might recall that the first trailer for the new movie, which is set for release in March, featured a blink-and-you'll-miss it scene of Batman cruising through the Necropolis on his Batbike.

But this new picture is something else all together, giving us a real taste of Glasgow as Gotham!
