Glasgow fundraiser for protective helmet to give wee girl 'regular start in life'

A Glasgow man is raising much-needed funds for purchase a protective helmet for his aunt's six-month old girl.

Remi Cairns has been diagnosed with severe Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly deformity, which requires the use of a TiMband Helmet - which is not available here on the NHS and treatment and only available through private healthcare.

David Cochrane, who launched the GoFundMe appeal on behalf of wee Remi, who lives in Easterhouse with her family, says that the TiMband Helmet costs around £3,000.

On the GoFundMe page set up for Remi, David wrote: "Hi I’m David Cochrane. My aunties 5 month old baby girl has been diagnosed with severe Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly deformity. The treatment for this is a TiMband Helmet which is not available here on the NHS, only through private healthcare. This costs around £3,000 for the treatment.

"During these tough times most of us do not have that kind of disposable income laying around - my aunt is not the type of person to ask however I started this page to ask the community for any help at all towards getting her gorgeous baby girl treated to give her a regular old start in life as most of us have been lucky to have.

"Please anything at all would be greatly appreciated and go towards getting treatment and passed on to anyone else in need of this important service."

So far, kind-hearted Glaswegians have raised £1,200 towards the treatment via a GoFundMe page in the past 24 hours.
