Glasgow flat petrol bombing sparks gang fued fears after Omar Sadiq murder

A petrol bomb attack on a Glasgow flat linked to a suspect in the murder of Omar Sadiq is being probed by police.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a fire days after the 32-year-old was found dying in pool of blood near Silverburn.

He'd been attacked in his car on Boydstone Road and later died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

According to the Sunday Mail, it's believed petrol was poured through the letterbox of the flat in the south side and set alight.

And it has sparked fears that it could mean a wave of a tit-for-tat attacks between rival gangs.

A source told the Sunday Mail: "Sadiq's friends know who's responsible for his death.

"They've offered £30,000 to anyone who can lead them to him. The fire was started out of frustration because they've not been able to find him. They're also looking for people they think helped the guy get away. They've gone into hiding too."

Sadiq was found dying by police flagged down on the road around 1.25pm on Tuesday.

Detectives say they are following a "positive line of inquiry" in the investigation, which is being treated as murder.

Sadiq was also linked to race-hate killers Imran "Baldy" Shahid, his brother Zeeshan Shahid and Faisal Mushtaq, who were all sentenced to life in November 2006 after being found guilty of killing Kriss Donald, 15.

They drove terrified Kriss around Scotland for hours before stabbing him, pouring petrol over him and setting him on fire while he was still alive.

Dad Sadiq was linked to a knife attack on a witness involved in the case in 2008. He was caged for five years in 2009 for trying to ram a rival off the road while pointing a firearm at the car.

Police Scotland said: "Around 9.50pm on Thursday, September 17, police received reports of a wilful fireraising at a property on Leven Street in Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

"Inquiries into the incident are ongoing."
