Glasgow fire: One casualty after blaze rips through second floor tenement flat in Mount Florida

A person had to be treated by paramedics last night after a huge blaze ripped through a tenement flat in the south side of Glasgow.

Emergency service crews were scrambled to Cathkinview Road in Mount Florida after the fire took hold of a property on the second floor last night (Monday).

Images show the severity of the blaze, with four fire engines dispatched to battle against the flames shortly before 9.30pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service this morning confirmed the blaze has been put out and one casualty was treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.29pm on Monday, August 30 to reports of a fire at a property on Cathkinview Road, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a second floor flat within a four-storey tenement building.

“One casualty was in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed: “We received a request from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to attend an incident on Caithkinview Road, Glasgow on Monday night (August 30).

"We dispatched two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance crew, and one patient was transported to the Queen Elizabeth hospital."

The condition of the individual is unknown at this stage.
