Glasgow fire crews called to tackle blaze at southside fast food shop

Glasgow fire crews rushed to deal with a blaze that broke out at a fast food outlet in Shawlands earlier this afternoon.

The fire took hold at Berivan Grill on Kilmarnock Road shortly before 1pm.

Two appliances were mobilised to the scene alongside a height vehicle amid reports of smoke coming from the roof of the building.

Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were able to extinguish the blaze and left after ensuring the area was made safe.

There were no reported casualties.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.56pm on Tuesday, August 31 to reports of smoke coming from the roof of a building at Kilmarnock Road, Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances and one height vehicle and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a commercial property.

"There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.
