Glasgow filming to begin on second season of Channel 4 drama Screw in November

Hit Channel 4 prison drama Screw will once again be filmed in Glasgow.

Production crews are set to begin filming on season II of the popular TV series in November, UK Production News reports.

It comes after Channel 4 confirmed in June that they had recommissioned it for a second series, with the promise that it will be “bigger, bolder and more dangerous”.

Channel 4 also confirmed that season two will once again be filmed at Kelvin Hall, the mixed arts and sports venue on Argyle Street opposite Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum.

At the time Caroline Hollick, Head of Channel 4 Drama, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome back the staff and prisoners of C Wing.

“Rob has created an iconic Channel 4 prison series with a fantastic cast and we can’t wait to jump back into the drama, humanity and humour of life behind bars in series two.”

Told from the point of view of the prison officers as it follows their lives working in the fictional Long Marsh prison, Screw stars Killing Eve’s Nina Sosanya, Derry Girls’ Jamie-Lee O’Donnell and Titanic star Ron Donachie.

Filming for the first season in Glasgow last year saw production crews build a three-storey life-size replica of a prison wing in Kelvin Hall, with some exterior shots also filmed "in a different part of Scotland".
