Glasgow Film Festival to host premiere of Tina Turner biopic this weekend

Glasgow will be hosting the UK premiere of a major new Tina Turner documentary as part of the Glasgow Film Festival.

The documentary Tina, produced by Trainspotting producer Andrew Macdonald, was made with the full cooperation of Tina Turner and tells the story of her extraordinary life.

Tina includes archive footage which captures the talent and crowd-pleasing swagger of the the singing sensation at her peak in hits from 'Proud Mary' to 'What's Love Got To Do With It'.

Away from the stage, the film will see Tina discuss the highs and lows of a private life scarred by the violent abuse she suffered at the hands of husband Ike and follows her triumphant liberation to becoming a bestselling global artist.

The documentary, described as an 'emotion-charged celebration' of the star, will be premiered this Friday (March 5) and will be showing until March 8.

Tickets are available for pre-order and the trailer is online now.

The Glasgow Film Festival opened on February 24 and will be running until March 7.

The annual celebration of cinema - which is usually based at Glasgow Film Theatre - invites audiences from across the UK to enjoy over 60 World, European and UK film premieres via its digital Glasgow Film At Home hub, including hotly-tipped Oscar favourite Minari and the world premiere of Alan McGee biopic Creation Stories.
