Glasgow favourite Empire Coffee announces closure

One of Glasgow's favourite coffee joint is closing for business.

Empire Coffee, which operates from the old police box near Glasgow Cathedral in the east end, announced today: "this will be the final week".

The pint-sized coffee spot, a finalist in the coffee category in Glasgow Live's recent Best Places Awards, has been serving up delicious lattes and famously good toasties from the iconic tardis for the past two years.

However popular owner Rocco revealed Empire Coffee will move on to 'bigger and brighter things', perhaps teasing a new Glasgow coffee destination in the near future.

His statement on social media read: "Just an update to let you all know that this will be the final week for Empire Coffee.

"After an amazing two years, we now know is the time to move on to bigger and brighter things!

"Our last day at the box will be Saturday 15th June so pop in for coffee, a bite or a chat before we close the big blue door for the last time!

"Thank you to everyone who has made Empire such a huge success!"
