In the run-up to 8 June, Guardian journalists will be reporting in-depth on a range of constituencies around the country, with the aim of telling stories about the election that come from beyond the political bubble. As part of that project, Lisa O’Carroll will be reporting from the parliamentary constituency of Glasgow East.
Glasgow East is one of seven constituencies representing Glasgow City. It includes the wards of Baillieston, Barlanark, Braidfauld, Easterhouse, Garrowhill, Garthamlock, Greenfield, Mount Vernon, Parkhead, Queenslie, Shettleston, and Tollcross Park. Glasgow Celtic football club is also in the constituency.
Glasgow East is currently represented by Natalie McGarry MP (Independent). She has been an independent since resigning the SNP whip in 2015 and will not stand in the General Election in June. But her victory was historic, wiping out decades of Labour support in a staunch Labour constituency. Can SNP repeat it, or will Labour find a way through again?
How you can help
Poverty, housing, education, and health are all big issues in the constituency.
Lisa is interested in how they affect you and how that might influence your vote. What are the issues you care about? What are the issues the politicians are failing to get behind that are important to you? Are there any local issues that candidates are promising to fix? If you can help with any of these answers, they will help guide the Guardian in its coverage of the constituency you live in.
If you live in the Glasgow East constituency, please get in touch by filling in the form below and tell us what issues will decide this election.
Your responses are secure as the form is encrypted and only the Guardian has access to your contributions.
