Glasgow driver 'could have been killed' after brick smashes car windscreen while on M8

Police enquiries are underway following reports that a car being driven on the M8 motorway had its windscreen smashed by a brick thrown off an overpass in the north east of the city.

The incident is believed to have happened earlier this afternoon as the vehicle passed below the overpass on Gartcraig Road linking Ruchazie and Cranhill.

The daughter of the driver in question took to social media to appeal for anyone who may have any dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.

The widely-shared Facebook post read: "Some eejits are throwing bricks off a bridge Gartcraig Road on to cars on the motorway. My dad could have been killed if anyone has any dash cam footage please PM me - police notified".

Police have confirmed they have received a report concerning the incident and are investigating.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We have received a report that a vehicle being driven on the M8 on Saturday, 17 April had its windscreen smashed. Enquiries are ongoing."
