Glasgow dad rewarded with case of Tennents lager after treating his bin men

A Glasgow dad has earned himself a free case of Tennents beer after treating his bin men.

Les wanted to do something special for the waste collectors working through the coronavirus pandemic and left out a massive case of beer and chocolates.

The 58-year-old's efforts were shared online by his son Chris, 29, who said 'My auld da showing his gratitude for the hard working bin men and women keeping the place tidy round his bit.'

Chris told the Daily Record: "He was inspired by remembering when he was younger it was tradition for my family to leave a gift for the bin men at Christmas time as a thank you for working through.

"He thought they should get some recognition and thanks for working through the virus and putting themselves at risk."

His efforts weren't ignored as thousands of people liked the post and reached out, including Tennents lager.

The booze company wanted to pat Les on the back for his kind gesture and sent cans to enjoy.

They sent a note which read: "In the spirit of 'one good deed deserves another', have a beer on us!

"Thanks and take care,Tennents."

Both Chris and Les were thrilled by the gift and can't wait to crack them open.

Chris said: "My auld da and I will enjoy these delicious lagers once refrigerated.

"Thank you @TennentsLager."

The bin men were also excited to see their gift from Les.

Chris added:"They thanked my dad and seemed very grateful.

"He went out that morning when he saw them to make sure they took it."

"I couldn’t believe how many people shared it.

"There were loads of bin men and women commenting too saying how much they appreciate gestures like this.

"I thanked them all for keeping the country running and putting themselves at risk for us."
