A Glasgow-based craft distillery has produced a new Scottish spiced rum which will be available on shop shelves and behind bars shortly.
The Jacobite Spirit Company's 'The 45' is the result of a few Glasgow pals conducting some experiments in garden sheds, eventually arriving at 'the best drink imaginable'.
The team behind the drink, 'inspired by the spirit of rebellion', say: "There is only one way to start a craft distillery (in our opinion). And that’s to get a couple of sheds, get some friends together and start experimenting (once you’ve completed various license and health and safety requirements, obviously).
"And that’s what we did. In late 2018, after some pretty serious research trips, the Jacobite Spirits team embarked on the journey to make the best Scottish Spiced Rum we could imagine. It was surprisingly hard work and it continues to occupy our days, nights, mornings and everything in between.
"We have taken the international spices at the heart of most good spiced rums and blended them with locally-sourced botanicals for a delicious, and uniquely Scottish, flavour profile.
"And we don’t just care about creating an authentic, exciting product. We care about the environment we make it in. All of our ingredients come from sustainable sources. We’re quite picky about where we get our things and we are proud to tell you that everything you see when you look at our rum has been sustainably sourced - including the bottle itself, which is made in Scotland."
