Glasgow couple sought to work on Scots estate on a 'secluded peninsula' for summer roles

Fancy escaping the city for the summer? Well, a remote estate on the west coast could be offering the answer for one couple.

Only accessible by boat or on foot, the 14,000-acre crofting estate is seeking an estate worker and housekeeper, stating that the role would ideally be suited to a couple – with accommodation included.

Though the estate, which has a centre of operations situated in Tarbet Bay on the west coast, has stated that two friends or even singular applications will also be considered.

According to the job listing on Rural Recruits, the successful applicant would be required to undertake change-overs on four-holiday cottages and a larger principle house in an "outstandingly attractive" rural location, which is accessed via a 40-minute boat trip from the Highlands port of Mallaig, reports the Daily Record.

As well as cleaning the properties, the role will involve undertaking laundry and provisioning the main house, as well as "enhancing the desired ambience of the estate". Additionally, part of the job will be updating social media pages, responding to letting queries, and helping to look after the kitchen garden on the estate.

Previous housekeeping experience is required, with a history of working in holiday cottages, lodges, or chalets preferred. Additionally, the listing states that experience with small estate boats is "useful but not essential" as onsite training will be provided.

Those applying for the role are also required to possess a high level of client care, an ability to work within a team and alone, and basic IT and social media skills. They also must be "comfortable in remote and rural locations".

The seasonal role will pay £425 per week based on an average of 40 hours, and will include free staff accommodation. Additionally, heating, Wi-Fi, and council tax are all inclusive of the role.

More information about the roles can be found on the Rural Recruits website.
