Glasgow couple bag a free wedding at 23 Montrose Street - because they both love the number 23

A Glasgow couple have won their dream wedding for free - and at an address close to their hearts.

The recently rebranded registry office at 23 Montrose Street launched a competition recently, inviting a lucky couple to win their wedding.

The city centre venue gave couples across Glasgow the opportunity to submit their love stories for the chance to win a ceremony for up to 35 guests, a professional photographer, video footage from your big day and advice from wedding blogger Alison Tinlin.

It attracted more than 150 entries - but it was Emma Austin and Allan Wright, both from Glasgow, who scooped the prize - despite only getting engaged a week before.

Emma said:  “Allan and I are childhood sweethearts - we met back in high school and have been together for 10 years last week, when Allan asked me to marry him!

“He asked me in my favourite Glasgow park, Pollok Park , along with my two fur babies.”

23 Montrose Street is particularly fitting for the couple, thanks to their shared love of the number 23.

Emma added: “The 23rd is the date of both our birthdays and our special time is 23:23 (Which I have tattooed on my arm as a symbol of our love) so having our marriage here is the icing on the cake.

“I’ve never been this happy! It has been an incredible experience to win a free wedding. Allan and I have always had a connection to the number 23 but we never imagined anything like this would happen to us.”

The new wedding venue aims to put the city centre on the map, offering an affordable place to tie the knot in one of its two ceremony rooms.

Blogger Alison Tinlin, who judged the competition, added: “They say good things come in small packages, and this could definitely be said of the gorgeous 23 Montrose Street - if you are looking for a no fuss but still beautiful setting for your wedding ceremony then this little gem should be at the top of your go-to list.”
