A former council care home could be sold to a housing association with plans to redevelop the site.
Linthouse Housing Association is interested in buying the old Davislea Care Home in Drumoyne to deliver an “affordable housing project”.
Glasgow councillors will be asked to approve negotiations over a sale of the three-storey building on Mallaig Road when they meet on Thursday.

The housing association initially expressed an interest in the site in June 2019 — but progress was halted due to the property being identified as a possible replacement for an assessment centre for homeless women.
Glasgow City Council’s housing team agreed to fund a feasibility study to consider the “viability, layout, design etc of a new build affordable housing proposal” after the housing association showed interest.
However, in April 2021, Glasgow’s health and social care partnership (HSCP) wanted to “look at the former Davislea Care Home site as a possible replacement facility for the Homelessness Women’s Assessment Centre at Elder Street”, a council report reveals.
“The disposal process to LHA was therefore paused and the HSCP was given a period of time to consider the site and present an alternative proposal.”
A joint use of the site was concerned but the “given the uncertainty around the quantity of the site that would remain available for housing, the viability of the project could not be determined”.
Linthouse Housing Association remains interested in the former care home providing “it is viable to do so”, the council report adds.
Officials recommend negotiations should be approved “in an effort to avoid any further delay” and the HSCP’s interest “will continue to be considered and, if appropriate, will form part of the terms and conditions to be agreed”.
Conditions of the sale would include ensuring the land is “only utilised for the proposed use and overage clauses will be included to protect the council’s interest if the use is to change in the future”.
