Glasgow construction group creates 20 jobs with launch of manufacturing facility

Construction and manufacturing group CCG has launched a new range of PVCu windows and doors in partnership with global supplier REHAU.

The new product range will be developed using REHAU UK’s fabrication services and manufactured by CCG in a new, semi-automated manufacturing facility at the group’s headquarters in Glasgow.

A total of 20 jobs have been created as a result, with the products set to augment CCG’s construction and housebuilding programmes - currently comprising more than 40 sites - as well as its growing maintenance and refurbishment division.

Stuart Glen has been appointed to the role of manufacturing factory (PVCu) manager and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the new facility.

He stated: “For our factory, we have invested in the very latest manufacturing technology, as well as expert tradespeople, who have combined to deliver a first class standard of product.”

CCG manufacturing manager John Paton said: “CCG has been mainstream in the production of timber windows and doors for over 10 years, but we felt the group would benefit from a new product offering using PVCu.

“It has a lifespan in excess of 40 years and is manufactured using up to 80% recyclable materials; these characteristics very much align with our values in creating sustainable, quality solutions for our clients.”

Martin Hitchin, chief executive of REAHU UK, added: “With the launch of the new factory in Cambuslang and the rising demand for new windows and doors, it is exactly the right moment for both of business to work together.”

CCG was established in 1974, and under the leadership of chairman and chief executive Alastair Wylie, the group has since grown into one of Scotland’s largest privately-owned construction and manufacturing companies, with a turnover now in excess of £186m in the last financial year.

Based in Cambuslang, CCG now employs 700 staff across its group of companies that includes construction, offsite manufacturing, timber and PVCu window and door manufacture, planned maintenance, mechanical and electrical services, and new build private housing sales.

CCG Manufacturing is operational from CCG’s group ‘hub’ in Cambuslang with two manufacturing facilities, supporting up to 40 employees, specialising in the manufacture of timber window and door sets - and the newly launched PVCu manufacturing facility, which is based adjacent to CCG’s main headquarters.
