Glasgow confused with Dublin in hilarious gaffe by American lifestyle magazine

Viewers were left baffled earlier this week when a contestant on ITV game show Tipping Point admitted she "didn't know any Scottish cities" when asked where Strathclyde University was located.

The snippet went viral on Twitter, with the contestant even making up an answer - "Stratham".

And now we can add an American bi-monthly lifestyle magazine to the list of folk that could do with a wee lesson in Glasgow - and Scottish - geography.

Cigar & Spirits Magazine, which bills itself as 'the top choice as the ultimate gentleman’s lifestyle magazine which features celebrity interviews, lifestyle, fashion, and so much more', has somehow confused Glasgow with Dublin in a recent social media post on Twitter.

The post reads: "Glasgow's the UK’s 1st UNESCO CITY OF MUSIC. Home to the world’s oldest surviving music hall, Glasgow’s music scene is steeped in history.

"A stroll down Finnieston strip gives way to a number of Scottish pubs that have nightly live music as well as many spontaneous performances."

And yet instead of a photo of the Finnieston Strip, they have instead accompanied the post with a photo of a picturesque lane in the famous Temple Bar area of Dublin - Dame Lane to be exact.

A few folk noticed the error and have called them out on it, with one person tweeting:  "The beautiful Dublin area of Glasgow, while another wrote: "Do your research. Lazy."

What makes it even worse is that the magazine featured Outlander star Sam Heughan on the cover last month - so they could have even asked him if they were unsure!

Or else, all they needed to do was 'googled' what Finnieston looked like!
