Glasgow commuters left stranded after broken down vehicle causes chaos on subway

Commuters have been left stranded after a broken down vehicle is causing chaos on the Glasgow Subway.

Transport officials moved quickly to suspend all trains on the Inner Circle after reports of a broken down works vehicle being stuck on the line at around half 6 this morning.

Subway bosses have reassured passengers that the Outer Circle continues to operate.

They issued an apology to those affected by the disruption.

A spokesperson tweeted at 6.27am, saying: “Inner Circle suspended while we remove a broken down works vehicle from the system.

“Outer Circle is running as normal. Apologies for the inconvenience. Updates to follow.”

A number of users have been left frustrated by the news, which is affecting travel around the city centre during rush hour.

One user said: “Any idea when Hillhead station will open? Large group of people here waiting.”

Another added: “Kelvinhall not open - large group of people waiting?”
