Glasgow coffee shop chain closes location 'with a heavy heart' (and opens another)

COFFEE shop chain Kothel has closed its Bearsden location in favour of a new Southside spot.

The popular brunch spot is known for its baked goodies and Mediterranean-inspired brunch and lunch offering.

Owners took to social media on Monday to announce that they would be closing their Bearsden location "with a heavy heart".

They wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close Kothel Bearsden permanently.

"We would like to send our love and appreciation to all of our wonderful customers who have supported us throughout the years and through a global pandemic.

"We are still around at 300 and GWR and will be launching a new venture in the Southside soon! Stay tuned!"

The cafe operators have two other locations in the West End, one on Crow Road and one on Great Western Road.

The new Southside Kothel opened up over the weekend in Battlefield with Saturday, April 29 marking its first official day in business.

Owners shared their delight saying they were "excited" to welcome customers to Kothel South.

Kothel has been serving Glasgow since 2015.
