Glasgow COP26 activists plan return to King George V bridge today

Climate activists who occupied the King George V bridge over the River Clyde as part of a COP26 protest have confirmed plans to return to the bridge today (November 8).

Protestors from Scientist Rebellion blocked the major bridge at the Broomielaw for hours on Saturday (November 6) while dressed in white lab coats and holding a banner that read "climate revolution or we will lose everything".

Police were forced to close the bridge to both pedestrians and vehicles due to the protest, which came to an end when officers removed the activists from the bridge - making 21 arrests in the process.

Scientist Rebellion took to Twitter to say they will be back at the bridge tomorrow (November 8), despite 'being banned from the city centre', to perform a 'teach-in'.

They tweeted: "Despite being banned from the city centre we will be back on Monday with a teach-in from 2-4 on the South End of the King George V bridge.

"We will talk to the public in a public space about the hidden truths of the crisis we are in and what each of us can do to confront it."
