Glasgow Clan to face Fife Flyers in opener as Malcolm Cameron welcomes 'huge' start to new campaign

Glasgow Clan will kick off their 2022-23 Premier Sports Elite League season with a home clash against Fife Flyers.

The Clan - sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West - will begin the new campaign in a return to Challenge Cup action on Friday 9th September with the face off at 7.30pm. Todd Dutiaume's side are the visitors with two early points up for grabs. Back in 2019, Clan went all the way to the semi-finals of the tournament and repeated that same feat in 2020, but sat out last year due to protracted negotiations over Braehead Arena.

The prospect of a mouth-watering derby against the Flyers will get the Purple Army pumped up as they continue to count down the days until they can return 'home'. Clan coach Malcolm Cameron is equally as excited about the new season getting up and running and making his debut in the Challenge Cup.

He's labelled the derby showdown as a chance to make an 'early mark' against one of their biggest rivals in a huge opening game.

He said: “It’s definitely great to be starting the season off with a derby game against one of our biggest rivals.

“We missed out on the Challenge Cup because of what was going on behind the scenes, but it’s a chance for us to make an early mark and give the fans a chance to see the new guys coming in and what they can do.

“We’re all looking forward to being back and that’s certainly going to be a huge game for us to start the campaign.”

The Clan's season runs from September until April. They will play 30 home games and 30 away matches during the regular season which runs until the end of March.

Further fixture details and ticketing information for the opening game will be released in due course.
