Glasgow Clan fans raise incredible £10k for Beatson Cancer Charity

Fans of the Glasgow Clan ice hockey team raised an incredible £10,006 for Beatson Cancer Charity at their most recent match.

During the club’s EIHL home game against the Nottingham Panthers, a bucket collection was carried out in Braehead Arena and the Clan wore a special limited edition ‘Bee’ jersey in acknowledge of the partnership with the charity.

Following the game all the jerseys were auctioned off to the club’s supporters, with the amazing amount going towards the final end of season donation to Beatson Cancer Charity.

Clan Chief Operating Officer Gareth Chalmers commented: “On behalf of the club I would like to thank the whole Purple Army for their superb support of our official charity.

“This is as much about the Clan fans than anyone else, it’s their superb support of the jersey auction that has allowed us to continue to make such a substantial financial contribution to the likes of Beatson Cancer Charity.”

Maisie McCormick of Beatson Cancer Charity commented: “I would like to thank Glasgow Clan for their incredible support over the past year.

"Without the Purple Army we couldn’t support the 8,000 new patients and their families who walk through the doors of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre every year.

“From enhancing patient wellbeing, funding research and clinical excellence, to providing practical care and support, because of your generosity we can say to all those patients and families, ‘We’re with you’.”
