Glasgow City goalkeeper Lee Alexander has enjoyed a dream week after making two spot-kick saves in a Champions League qualifying win – and then extending her contract with the club.
The Scotland No.1, who hails from Stewartfield, helped City edge past Irish champions Peamount United in the first qualifying round last Wednesday evening when the game finished goalless after extra time.
A save early in the shootout was followed by a sudden death stop to secure City’s passage into the next round and a tie away to Icelandic outfit Valur on November 18.
And to cap it all off, she has signed a new deal to keep her with the Scottish champions until 2023.
Former Calderglen High School pupil Alexander (left) said: “I am delighted to extend my stay at City and looking forward to the next few years and continuing to be a part of something special, creating more amazing memories.”
Lee also signed up alongside fellow goalkeeper Erin Clachers and City Head Coach Scott Booth, the former Aberdeen striker, said: “We have been in a great position as a club these last few years with two really top keepers battling for the jersey each week.
“They spur each other on in training and have a great work ethic as well as being brilliant characters around the club.
“Without doubt they are two of the finest keepers in the league and I am really pleased they will continue to be wearing our colours.”
