Glasgow City FC give full support to Clare Shine in 'long road ahead' as club thank public for support

Glasgow City FC has vowed to support player Clare Shine in her 'long road' to recovery after going missing.

The club issued a heartfelt thanks to the public for their support.

Clare Shine was reported missing from Midlothian on Sunday but was thankfully found safe later that day.

The 25-year-old posted from a hospital bed on Sunday night to tell supporters that she is 'struggling'.

She added: "I'm struggling and that's okay. I'll be back. Look after yourself."

Glasgow City FC has said that the Irishwoman has a 'long road ahead' in her recovery.

A statement posted by the team reads: "On behalf of Clare and the club, a heartfelt thank you for all the messages, calls, love and well wishes sent over the past day.

"It really has meant the world.

"There is a long road ahead and we are all 100% with Clare in every step of the way.

"Now is the time for recovery and we know everyone will respect the privacy needed to do so."

The club also shared links to the Breathing Space helpline, for anyone else who may be struggling.

The football community has shared messages of support for Clare and the Glasgow City FC team.
