Glasgow City Council to open registration for Baby's First Christmas

Glasgow City Council have announced they are opening registration for Baby's First Christmas.

A thousand babies from the Glasgow area will take part in the annual celebration on December 7 where they will receive a personalised scroll, a silver Newbridge Christmas decoration for their Christmas tree and a polar bear teddy.

Parents will be able to put their baby's name down from tomorrow (Wednesday October 30) at 9am – with the first 250 babies registered invited to meet the Lord Provost and her Bailies at the City Chambers on December 7.

Lord Provost Eva Bolander said: “Baby’s First Christmas is a wonderful celebration for Glasgow’s newest citizens that will build memories for their families that will last forever.

"It’s an absolute privilege to be able to meet these young Glaswegians, their parents and siblings and be a part of their first Christmas together.”

Baby’s First Christmas is organised by Glasgow City Council and sponsored by St. Enoch Centre. It has attracted thousands of babies and their parents since it began in 2005, and forms part of the city’s Glasgow Loves Christmas celebrations.

Anne Ledgerwood, general manager of St Enoch Centre, said: “Christmas is such a magical time of year and we’re looking forward to celebrating with Glasgow’s youngest residents as they enjoy their first festive season. Baby’s First Christmas is a truly special event in the city and we’re proud to be part of such a memorable experience.”

Those not attending the City Chambers will be invited to collect their gifts from St Enoch's Centre. Only babies residing within the Glasgow City Council boundary, and born on and after 31 October 2018 are eligible to register.

Please note: Only one registration per baby will be accepted. Duplicate entries will be removed.
