Glasgow City Council to hold emergency meeting on Coronavirus outbreak

An emergency meeting has been called to address the Coronavirus outbreak in Glasgow.

The city council’s Emergency Committee is to hold a private meeting to discuss the expected outbreak on Thursday.

At the request of the committee, the public will not be allowed to sit in on the proceedings.

Plans outlined in the meeting will be made available to the public afterwards.

Chief Executive, Annemarie O’Donnell, will be addressing committee members and is expected to discuss how she intends to deal with any future covid-19 outbreak.

It comes after the first cases of the virus were confirmed in Scotland over the weekend.

The first case was confirmed in the Tayside area.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the Scottish Government is expecting a “significant” outbreak of the virus.

Health Secretary Jeane Freeman announced that two more cases of the virus were confirmed in the country but added that it was too soon to say if the new cases were linked to the Tayside case.
