Glasgow city centre road closures for new advert being filmed this week

Several roads in Glasgow city centre are to be shut down for the filming of a new advert, Glasgow City Council has confirmed.

The first road closures come into force today (Tuesday) at 4pm, with ending on Thursday at 7pm.

As well as closures in the city centre, the Broomielaw and Clyde Arc bridge will also be affected.

Glasgow City Council haven't been in a position to confirm what is being filmed, but have stated the cameras will be rolling for a new commercial.

They said: "Roads affected and dates and times of restriction applying to all vehicles with the exception of an emergency service vehicle carrying out an emergency response or vehicles given permission from Glasgow City Council filming and events section.

From 16:00hrs on the 1 June 2021 until 19:00hrs on the 3 June 2021

Prohibition of waiting, loading and unloading

  • Blythswood Square (north and west side) for its full length

From 08:00hrs on the 2 June 2021 until 19:00hrs on the 3 June 2021

Prohibition of vehicle movements

  • Blythswood Square (west side only)

From 09:30hrs until 19:00hrs on the 2 and 3 June 2021

Prohibition of vehicle movements by use of short term traffic stop and hold using traffic management (2min max waiting time)

  • West Regent Street at Pitt Street
  • West George Street at Douglas Lane
  • West George Lane at Douglas Street
  • Pitt Street at West Regent Street
  • Douglas Street at West George Lane

From 19:00hrs until 23:00hrs on the 2 June 2021

Prohibition of vehicle movements by use of short term traffic stop and hold using traffic management (3min max waiting time)

  • Broomielaw (Fastlink) between James Watt Street and Warroch Street
  • Clyde Arc (Fastlink) between Govan Road and a point 40m south of Lancefield Quay

Reason for Restrictions

"To facilitate a temporary restriction to allow filming works to take place."
