Glasgow city centre stabbing: Screams as man 'covered in blood' in street

A man was left covered in blood following a stabbing in Glasgow, with a witness saying he heard "loud screaming".

Police were called to the heart of the Scottish city, two days after six people were injured in a frenzied knife atack.

Police have described the latest incident as a "targeted assault".

A witness told the Glasgow Times he heard "loads of screaming" before seeing a man on the ground covered in blood.

He said: "Literally just happened, was loads of screaming and guy is on the ground with blood all over him.

"Looked like the guy came out of the Premier Inn hotel."

Inspector Gareth Griffiths said: "We were called around 12.10pm on Sunday, 28 June, to a report of an assault in Argyle Street, Glasgow.

"Officers are currently at the scene.

"We believe this was a targeted assault and we do not believe there is a threat to the wider public.

"This is not being treated as linked to the incident in West George Street, Glasgow, on Friday, 26 June, or any nearby hotels or accommodation."

The latest incident happened in Argyle Street, which has been cordoned off.

Five police cars, an ambulance and paramedics are currently on the scene, Glasgow Live reports.

On Friday afternoon knifeman Badreddin Abadlla Adam was shot dead by police after stabbing six people, including a police officer.

The attack happened a mile from this afternoon's incident.

People who knew the 28-year-old attacker said he was known as Badradeen.

PC David Whyte, 42, was one of those knifed and he is currently recovering in hospital. The youngest victim was a 17-year-old boy, while the oldest was 53.

One of those hurt remains in a critical condition in hospital.
