Glasgow city centre disturbance leaves man in hospital as police cordon off shop

A man has been rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted on a busy city centre street.

Emergency services were called to Gordon Street around 3.05pm on Tuesday following reports of a disturbance.

One man was seriously assaulted and taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

Officers cordoned off a section of the street directly outside Tesco while they carried out enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.05pm on Tuesday, 7 March 2023, police received a report of a disturbance in Gordon Street, resulting in one man being seriously assaulted. The man has been taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and enquiries are ongoing.”
