Glasgow Christmas light display to see city centre buildings lit up over festive period

Glasgow buildings will be lit up this Christmas as part of a campaign to bring festive cheer to the city.

While plans for a Christmas lights switch-on are still uncertain, there will be lots of attractions to bring people to the city.

Love Glasgow This Christmas will include light shows projected onto Buchanan Galleries, Royal Concert Hall and the Buck's Head building at the St Enoch Centre on Argyle Street.

George Square and the city centre will be home to the Christmas tree, festive lights and the Nativity. Plans for Christmas markets are also set to be confirmed soon.

The festive visitor campaign is hoped to encourage people to visit the city centre to make the most of the culture, nightlife, entertainment and retail Glasgow have to offer.

Lord Provost of Glasgow, Councillor Philip Braat said: “Christmas is the time of year we look to spend more time with friends and family and this year we are offering even more opportunities to come and celebrate in Glasgow.

"Glasgow offers something for everyone as we celebrate Christmas and I hope people will get together safely and support the local businesses, hospitality and entertainment venues that make the city a special destination all year round.”

The building lighting will start at all three buildings on December 1 and runs until January 2, 2022.
