Glasgow Central trains disrupted after Cathcart railway bridge struck by vehicle

Train services have been disrupted in Glasgow this evening after a vehicle struck a railway bridge in the south side of Glasgow.

Scotrail reported at 4.45pm the incident had occurred at a bridge between Cathcart and Muirend stations, leading to a number of trains travelling to or from Glasgow Central being suspended or delayed.

The line is currently closed while railway staff inspect the damage and will only reopen when the all clear has been given.

There are no reports of any injuries following the crash.

Scotrail advised on Twitter: "We've had reports of a a vehicle striking a bridge between Cathcart and Muirend, staff are now on site carrying out an inspection.

"Once given the all clear, we will reopen the line.

"Services between Glasgow Central and Neilston will be delayed or revised."
