Glasgow Central Station locked down amid reports of stabbing

Glasgow Central station has been sealed off by police amid reports that someone has been stabbed.

Photos from the scene show officers have placed a large cordon at the Gordon Street entrance this evening extending along to Hope Street in the vicinity of the Citizen Firefighter bronze statue.

A number of police officers and vehicles have been spotted outside the station.

Police Scotland have confirmed to Glasgow Live that they received a report of a disturbance but that the incident is being handled by British Transport Police.

A spokesman for Network Rail Scotland has told Glasgow Live that the incident occurred outside the Gordon Street entrance around 7:30pm and that while that entrance is shut amid an ongoing police investigation the station remains fully operational.

British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
