A Glasgow catering company is asking for donations to help deliver food to NHS staff working on the front line of the coronavirus outbreak.
Really Delicious usually caters for weddings and corporate events but is now using its services to feed staff across Glasgow’s hospitals.
In just two days, nearly £7,500 has been raised to help the company continue to make and deliver the meals without charge.
Since last Monday, over 200 NHS heroes at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the Royal Infirmary and the Golden Jubilee, have been delivered sandwiches, soup, hot food and fruit through the Really Delicious initative.
However, other departments have been contacting the company to ask for their help.
Sandy Kennedy, director Really Delicious, said: “Last Monday we decided, in order to use up our excess stock, that we would provide lunch to our NHS staff in three hospital units where we have friends that are working.
“Due to the lack of eating facilities in hospitals, and after lockdown, we are now receiving more requests to provide nourishing, freshly made food to those that will be working on the front line.
“With other departments contacting us on a daily basis we are expecting to be feeding 300 people every day. Our aim was to never have to charge as the people we are feeding are putting themselves on the front line and are battling to save people affected by this awful virus.
“Our estimated costs per head (on average) are £5. The feedback that we have had from the doctors and nurses has been overwhelming and if you could help Really Delicious support these fabulous people work to make our lives normal again then thank you very much.”
