Glasgow buyer sought for whisky distillery washback that could double up as unique hot tub

Hot tubs seem to be appearing higher and higher on the wish list for Glaswegians since the pandemic.

That was illustrated back in July 2020 when a spell of warm weather, coupled with strict covid restrictions, saw folk queuing up outside one B&Q in the city to be greeted with a handmade sign which read 'No Hot Tubs Today' at the entrance.

Speaking of hot tubs, we think we've found something on the market that has the potential to be the world's best tub you could ever dream about owning - and especially perfect for fans who love a wee dram.

The item in question is a solid oak whiskey receiver (or washback), a huge container where all the alcohol that finds its way into a distillery's whisky is produced.

One has gone up for sale on Glasgow Marketplace, listed as being made of oak, weighing 1.1 tons, measuring 2.5m in diameter and 1.1 metre in height - so big in fact that the advert shows it being strapped to a trailer.

The seller mentions that they were "going to make a hot tub from it but unfortunately never had the time".

On offer for a cool £375, with a bit of work we can imagine it being the perfect addition to your back garden if there's anyone out there willing to take on the challenge!
