1. Rangers legend Walter Smith has died

Former Rangers, Everton and Scotland manager Walter Smith had died at the age of 73.

Rangers confirmed the news of his passing in a statement on the club website this morning.

It reads: "It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our former manager, chairman and club legend, Walter Smith."

2. No plan B for transport system ahead of COP26

There is no 'plan B' in place should Glasgow's transport system collapse amid potential industrial action during the COP26 summit, MPs have been told.

They quizzed the council on the potential fall out that will occur should train services in the city be cancelled as a result of possible strike action, during a meeting with the Scottish Affairs Committee yesterday (October 26).

Rail strike action is set to go ahead as planned during the summit after RMT union members voted to reject a 'revised pay offer' ‎from ScotRail at their AGM in Leeds.

3. Nicola Sturgeon to deliver covid update

Nicola Sturgeon is to give an update on the Covid-19 situation in Scotland this afternoon.

The First Minister will deliver a speech to MSPs in Holyrood where she is expected to confirm the latest statistics regarding coronavirus in Scotland.

The latest figures published by the Scottish Government yesterday confirm that 2,240 new cases of coronavirus were reported, making up 10.3% of all tests.

4. Firebomb attack on Lanarkshire councillor's home

A cash reward is being offered in exchange for information on a series of attacks on a councillor's home.

South Lanarkshire councillor Graeme Campbell has had his property in Strathaven targeted three times in the past few years.

The latest attack saw his home firebombed during the night with vehicles parked out front set on fire before the blaze spread inside the house on Fortrose Gardens.

5. Justin McLaughlin's family unveil memorial banner

The devastated family of tragic schoolboy Justin McLaughlin has erected a memorial banner for their 'precious blue-eyed boy'.

The teenager's heartbroken mum, Stephanie McLaughlin, shared an image of the memorial with an emotional tribute to her son.

In the wake of the 14-year-old's death, she said she is 'lost' without him.
