Glasgow Bridge ongoing police incident - road closed off at city centre

Glasgow Bridge, also known as Jamaica Bridge, in Glasgow city centre, is currently closed due to an ongoing police incident.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) advised shortly after 2pm: "Glasgow Bridge is currently closed to all traffic due to an ongoing police incident.

"This bridge normally allows traffic to cross the River Clyde(southbound) between Broomielaw and Bridge Street.

"As a result of this closure significant congestion should be expected on surrounding streets and road users should avoid the area if possible."

UPDATE: A Police Scotland spokesperson has now confirmed to Glasgow Live they attended in response to concern for the welfare of a person on the bridge.

14:35pm: The bridge has now been reopened to all traffic.
