Glasgow boy Kerr James set for semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent

A budding young singer from Glasgow is set to appear in the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent tomorrow.

After blowing away the judges at the audition stages of the ITV show, 13-year-old Kerr James made it through to the live semi-final at London's Hammersmith Apollo.

40 performers have made it through to this stage in the hope of winning the public vote and securing an all-important place in the live final with the chance of winning a life-changing £250,000 and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.

Kerr impressed all four judges - Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Simon Cowell - with his rendition of Try a Little Tenderness by Otis Redding and is determined to give an even better performance when he returns to the stage on Thursday night.

Kerr said: "I am totally buzzing to get another opportunity to perform at an incredible venue in front of the judges and the millions of people who watch BGT.

"Everyone can expect a bigger and better performance and hopefully I can smash it."

Kerr started his entertainment career early and was just seven when he got the part of Oliver in an Apollo Players production at the Pavilion Theatre. He did more musicals before learning the piano and realising he wanted to be a musician.

Having already played the Barrowlands and King Tut’s for charity shows, he also started busking on Buchanan Street a couple of years ago.

Kerr is also the first Scot to make it to the semi-finals of the talent contest in three years.

He will appear in tomorrow night's episode of Britain's Got Talent tomorrow from 7.30pm.
