Glasgow bowling club shuts after members tests positive for coronavirus

A Glasgow bowling club has confirmed that one of their members has tested positive for coronavirus.

Mount Vernon Bowling Club has shut until further notice following the confirmation and said they "wish a speedy recovery to the member".

A statement from the club read: "Unfortunately a member of the club has notified the Board that they have tested positive for Covid-19. The club will now be shut until further notice.

"All members should have been notified by email from the club and section secretaries. Wish a speedy recovery to the member, and hope everyone else is well and safe.

"If anyone has any questions please respond to the email."

It comes as 51 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Scotland yesterday. The figure includes eight in Greater Glasgow, eight in Lanarkshire and 25 in Grampian.

Nicola Sturgeon previously announced that there is currently three coronavirus clusters being investigated.

Ca Va Brasserie in Giffnock has been forced to closed after a positive case was linked to the business.

Staff members identified as close contacts have been instructed to self-isolate for 14 days.

Anyone who visited the restaurant earlier this week is asked to book a test or self-isolate if they are experiencing symptoms.

Another cluster is also being looked at in north Glasgow which has been linked to pupils of Bannerman High School.
