Glasgow bowling club forced to close after member tests positive for coronavirus

A Scots bowling club has been forced to temporarily shut down after a member tested positive for coronavirus.

Mount Vernon Bowling Club, in Glasgow, announced the sudden closure on Saturday after being contacted by a sick bowler.

Posting on social media, they said: “Unfortunately a member of the club has notified the Board that they have tested positive for Covid-19.

“The club will now be shut until further notice.

“All members should have been notified by email from the club and section secretaries.

“Wish a speedy recovery to the member, and hope everyone else is well and safe.”

The Scottish Government announced a further 51 new confirmed cases of coronavirus on Saturday.

Eight were found in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area with the same number also found in Lanarkshire.

The Lothians and Tayside detected four new cases while Orkney and Forth Valley both detected one each.

The NHS Grampian area had the largest amount with 25 people confirmed as having the virus.
