Glasgow-born Chelsea star Billy Gilmour starting for Scotland is 'no-brainer' says Alan Brazil

Former Scotland international Alan Brazil has added his voice to those demanding a call-up for Billy Gilmour.

The 18-year-old Chelsea midfielder has won two consecutive man-of-the-match awards in recent days, in a 2-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool and on his first Premier League start in Sunday's 4-0 win over Everton.

Having been tipped for success during his time as a Rangers youth player, Gilmour moved to Stamford Bridge in 2017 and is now taking his chance in the first team.

With Scotland facing Israel in the vital Euro 2020 play-off later this month, there has been a clamour for national team boss Steve Clarke to call Gilmour up.

Speaking on talkSPORT, ex-Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour said: "So he's got to be in the Scotland squad straight away", to which Brazil responded: "Oh crikey, without a doubt. Without a doubt."

Parlour added: "He's playing for Chelsea, he's straight in that Scotland squad and maybe starting. That's how good he is", to which Brazil replied: "He's got to start. If he's man-of-the-match for Chelsea, he's got to start for Scotland.

"Seriously. It's a no-brainer."

Speaking about his performance against Liverpool, Roy Keane told Sky Sports: "There's certain traits you want from a midfielder, whether it be quality on the ball, football intelligence, composure, he had everything.

"It was one of the best performances I've seen in a long, long time."
