Glasgow Beer Works pop-up beer garden in the city centre hoping to stay open until 2023

A pop-up beer garden opened in summer could soon become a permanent feature of the city.

Glasgow Beer Works (GBW) has applied for permission to keep their site on Osborne Street open until 2023.

The internal courtyard, which sits under the famous Billy Connolly mural by John Byrne, would be adjusted for year round use if given the go-ahead.

GBW currently only has permission to operate on the site until October but is looking to extend this until 2023, when the land is due to be developed.

The company are hoping to partner up with the Merchant City Festival and other initiatives to make use of the space which has already welcomed hundreds of customers since opening in July.

Shipping containers would continue to be used for different purposes including serving food and drink and tables will continue to be 2m apart as per Scottish Government guidelines.

Vendors including Salt N Chilli, Muerte Por Churros and Fire Dog Gourmet Hotdogs could also become a permanent fixture.

The courtyard will have controlled access and be subject to the normal licensing restrictions in the city centre.

It would be open to the public from 12pm to 10pm, seven days a week with a pre-booking system in place.

The plans are due to go before Glasgow City Council.
