A bulletin issued by Network Rail reads: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident at Troon. So they can safely do their work, all lines are currently closed."

Eyewitness reports confirm smoke has been seen rising from the station, while some photos shared on social media shows a small fire taking hold on the corner of a window on the outside of the building.

The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
