Glasgow BBC weather: Will city have heatwave as parts of UK soars above 30C

Over the next few weeks, parts of the UK - mainly those in England - are set to see highs of over 30C.

Much of the UK is now seeing the summer temperatures we were warned of, with many finding it hard to sleep at night due to the rising figures.

Temperatures down south are soaring and as a result, the Met Office has had to issue an amber weather warning for parts of England which comes into force on July 17 (Sunday). In their warning, they say: "Some exceptionally high temperatures are possible during Sunday and could lead to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure."

And with much of England now experiencing a heatwave, many are wondering whether Glasgow will see the same and if so, when to expect the rise in temperatures.

According to weather forecasters at the BBC, the city is set to see double figures all week, soaring above 20C from July 16 (Saturday) until July 18 (Monday). However, cloud coverage may ruin your chances of sunbathing.

This means that, for now, Glasgow won't experience the same highs as across the border; however, it will still remain warm. And with the city having just had exceptional weather during TRNSMT, folk can't be blamed for wanting this to continue.

The next time we will see the sun will be tomorrow with the BBC stating we should have a sunny interval between 4pm an 7pm. Thankfully much of tomorrow's rain is set to pour down between 6am and 11pm, leaving the afternoon dry - just in time for the sun to peek out from behind the clouds.

Met Office: Glasgow's five day weather forecast

This Evening and Tonight

A mostly dry evening but outbreaks of rain soon reaching the Hebrides then spreading eastwards to all parts overnight. A mild and breezy night, gales in the northwest at first. Minimum temperature 15 °C.

Tuesday

A cloudy start with patchy rain. This soon dying out to leave a dry day with sunny spells although the south may not brighten up until late afternoon. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday

A mixture of bright or sunny spells and a few showers. Feeling cooler than of late with brisk southwesterly winds at times.
