Glasgow bar's boozy deep-fried burger with blue Mad Dog sauce goes viral worldwide

Scotland is famed for its quirky food favourites such as deep fried mars bars, pizza crunch and macaroni pies.

But one Glasgow bar has taken it a step further by making a boozy burger with Mad Dog 20/20 - and it's gone viral around the world.

Bloc’s 'Dug Burger' features a deep fried patty which is smothered in a fluorescent blue sauce made from the iconic fortified wine.

The city centre bar revealed the bizarre burger has even received attention in Australia despite being on the menu a year ago, Glasgow Live reports.

The bar first created the boozy burger last year - but it is hoped this newfound fame Down Under will mean it is a permanent fixture on the menu.

Taking to Facebook, Bloc said: "Morning. This appears to be going viral in Australia and the US at the moment despite being from a year ago.

"Imagine that for your breakfast? The Blue Mad Dug Burger."

It remains to be seen if Aussies will truly appreciate the unique taste of Mad Dog like the Scots do.

The Glasgow bar is known for weird and wonderful food creations.

Last year it served up a monster mac and cheese burger as well as a huge Yorkshire pudding stuffed with pigs and blankets, chips and gravy.

The bar also created an enormous Christmas dinner burger filled to the brim with all the trimming and garnished with a bunch of cranberries and a brussel sprout.
